About this blog

Whatever is well conceived is clearly said.” (Nicolas Boileau)

“[Journalists] are forever battling the clock to gather information as quickly as they can to deliver some working theory of the truth to their audiences. Sometimes, this imperative of speed means that journalists’ rough drafts of history are rough indeed. Context goes missing. Important aspects of a story have not yet surfaced.” (Reid Hoffmann, Impromptu)

This blog was born out of a good resolution for the year 2023.

As a keen reader of newspapers, I often find the ideas brought forward as simplistic or even erroneous, due to a lack of either space (after all, a newspaper is constrained) or understanding of the topic. Using my background and experience, this blog represents an attempt at deconstructing the reasonings that can be read in the press, mainly in the economic press, analyzing them and sometimes expressing alternate viewpoints

It would be dishonest to claim that the alternative views I put forward are more valid than those written by professional journalists. And obviously, that is not my claim. On the contrary, I seek to equip the reader with an “intellectual toolbox” that will enable him or her to construct his or her own opinion by putting these different opinions into perspective. And I am very open to continuing the debate on all these subjects!

I hope you will have as much pleasure reading those posts as I had writing them. I look forward to receiving your feedback and suggestions for improvement through the contact section.
